From this community.
Invested in its people.
Dr. Andrew Carr is a native of Wood River, Illinois. His connection to the area began long before Prime Health: he grew up here and graduated with valedictorian honors from East Alton Wood River High School in 1998.
Prime Health has been serving the community for 20 years and counting. Today, Dr. Carr brings his local connection to his work as the owner and chiropractor at the practice. Getting to know a person means understanding more than the area that hurts. It means hearing about the job, the family, the sport, and the everyday activities that give a person’s goals meaning.
A foundation in biology.
A commitment to learning.
After high school, Dr. Carr attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. He participated in collegiate soccer while pursuing his science education, graduating magna cum laude in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
He continued his education at Logan College of Chiropractic. In April 2007, he graduated cum laude with two additional degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic.
His educational path connects the study of living systems with the study of the human body and chiropractic care. That foundation supports thoughtful assessment and a clear explanation of the findings and recommendations for each person.
Care begins with listening.
Dr. Carr’s approach starts with your story, health history, examination, and goals. He looks at how your concerns affect movement and daily life, discusses the available options, and works with you to understand an appropriate next step.
His adjusting approaches include Diversified, Logan Basic, Cox flexion distraction, Thompson drop, and instrument-assisted adjustments when appropriate. Soft tissue care includes Active Release Techniques (ART), Graston Technique, and trigger point therapy. The choice of approach depends on the individual, the examination, and the discussion about care. An appointment is also an opportunity to ask why a recommendation is being made, what it involves, and how progress will be assessed.
His office also offers static and dynamic exercise rehabilitation, electrical stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, infrared sauna, dry sauna, and Rapid Reboot compression therapy. These options give the care conversation a broader range of tools; they are selected according to the person and the purpose of the visit. He emphasizes education and individual attention. When another type of evaluation or care is more appropriate, referral is part of that conversation.
Care that carries into
everyday life.
When needed, Dr. Carr creates personalized rehabilitation exercise and nutritional plans. These are shaped around your goals, assessment, current ability, and the practical demands of your day.
An exercise plan may include static and dynamic rehabilitation, corrective exercises, stretching, and activity guidance. A nutritional plan focuses on recommendations that fit your health history, preferences, and routine. You should understand what you are being asked to do and why it matters to your plan.
The purpose is personal: working toward the things you want more of in life, whether that is family time, training, work, or an ordinary day that asks less of you.
A commitment through
challenging times.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Carr continued caring for the Prime Health community. His focus remained on the person in front of him: careful assessment, individual attention, and clear communication at a time when health and everyday life felt uncertain for many families.
A personal health journey.
A continued commitment to care.
Dr. Carr has also faced personal health challenges, including a prolactinoma, a noncancerous pituitary tumor that can disrupt hormone balance. Alongside his own health journey, he has continued caring for patients and serving the Wood River community.
At Prime Health, care remains personal: listening closely, taking concerns seriously, and helping each person understand their care and the next step.

Giving back.
On and off the mat.
Outside Prime Health, Dr. Carr serves as head coach and instructor at Oddfellows Grappling Club. It is an unpaid role and another way he gives back to the community: sharing his time, teaching practical skills, and helping people work toward something meaningful together.
Grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu combine physical effort with technique and problem-solving. Training offers opportunities to develop strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and body awareness while practicing patience, discipline, and respect for training partners.
For adults
A purposeful way to stay active, learn new skills, and connect with others. Regular physical activity can support better sleep and reduce feelings of anxiety. On the mat, students have opportunities to practice focus, make decisions under pressure, and build confidence through steady progress.
For children and teens
Age-appropriate instruction can make movement engaging while creating opportunities to practice listening, self-control, teamwork, and resilience. Learning a skill, working through frustration, and trying again can be part of building confidence. Regular physical activity also supports attention, memory, muscular fitness, and endurance in young people.
Dr. Carr’s coaching emphasizes controlled practice, respect for training partners, and learning step by step. His goal is to help people develop skills, support one another, and find a sense of belonging alongside the physical challenge.

Family, movement,
and life beyond the office.
Dr. Carr is a husband and father. His experience as a collegiate soccer player and his ongoing involvement in coaching give him a personal connection to training, movement, and the patience involved in developing a skill.
He also shares health and wellness education through the practice and offers health and wellness talks for workplaces, civic organizations, and places of worship. His aim is to help people ask better questions, understand their options, and take an active role in their own health.
Whether your goal is a return to a favorite activity or more comfort in the demands of an ordinary day, the conversation starts with what matters to you.
